IN THE MIDDLE

By Liz Skillman & Joaquim
Released February 2001

REVIEW

Liz Skillman offers a varied folk-based singer/songwriter album that travels in mood from reflective ballads ("In the Middle of a Case of Champagne") to such progressive post-pop outings as "Room 13" and it's sci-fi theremin. This mix of dressed up alt-rock and acoustic folk make for a rich album, though it is only on the more calm numbers that Skillman really is able to get into a song and use her voice to bring it to life. Diverse arrangements here include harmonium, horns, tabla, and the violin featured on "House of the Rising Son." ~ Tom Schulte, All Music Guide
